Rock House cave is the only true cave in Hocking Hills State Park. This grand tunnel-like corridor is situated midway up a 150-foot cliff of Black Hand sandstone. It harbors a rich history as this cave was said to be used by native americans as well as a staging place for thieves in the early 19th century, hence the nickname, “Robber’s Roost.” There are hiking trails throughout this scenic park as well.
Designated as a State Nature Preserve in 1977, Conkle’s hollow is one of the 7 major hiking trails of Hocking Hills State Park in southern Ohio. Conkles Hollow State Nature Preserve is a deep, cool gorge, which is only 100 feet wide in places and is considered by some to be the deepest in Ohio. The cliffs above the gorge are about 200 feet tall. The valley floor is covered in multiple different species of plants, such as ferns, hemlock, and other wildflowers.
Guests are welcome to explore our property peacefully. We ask that guests always stay on trails and keep domestic animals leashed at all times to avoid wildlife attacks and lost cats and dogs.
As martial artists, we know, a strong mind works well with a strong body. For that reason we have installed Functional Fitness Stations using many raw materials. All guests of any fitness level can engage in outdoor fitness while breathing some of the cleanest air around.
Our forest contains designated meditation areas so that entry level meditators and experienced meditators can both thrive. We urge guests to make their mental wellness a priority. This property is often used as a reset button, allowing guests to be able to focus better, sleep better, and treat their bodies to needed rest and unscheduled fun.
