Real stays, real results.

What This Page Is

Not a highlight reel. Five stays, start to finish.

Ratings tell you a place is good. They do not tell you what it is like to arrive alone as a young woman, or to hand a nine-person program over to a venue you have never seen. So instead of another wall of stars, this page takes five real guests, says who they were and what they booked, and then hands the microphone to them.

The context around each quote is drawn from what the guests themselves described. The quotes are reproduced exactly as written. For the full body of reviews across Airbnb, Google and VRBO, see the reviews page.

Snow on the bare trees and the pond, seen through a cabin window in winter at Raven's Retreat Hocking Hills
Solo Retreat

A solo retreat to find her way back to herself.

Nikki Z. booked a solo retreat needing solace, peace, and a sense of self. She stayed in a private cabin on the preserve through the winter season, with Raven and Dustin guiding her experience as hosts and mentors rather than leaving her to fend for herself.

  • A solo stay, booked for one, in the winter season
  • A private cabin on the 58-acre preserve
  • Hosted and mentored throughout by Raven and Dustin
  • Cook in the on-site kitchen, catering, chef, or cooking class

“I booked my stay here needing to find solace, peace, and sense of self. Raven and Dustin were incredibly great hosts and mentors. The cabin was quaint and perfect for a solo retreat. Being submerged in nature was incredible (even in the winter). The food was amazing! They have created an amazing atmosphere for growth, sustainability, and retreat from the real world. I would recommend staying here anytime! I can’t wait to stay here again.”

A lone guest walking the wooded trail through the preserve at Raven's Retreat Hocking Hills
First Solo Stay

A first solo retreat, built around feeling safe.

T K, a first-time solo guest, came to Raven’s Retreat looking for something specific: a place to disconnect completely, and a place where she would feel safe doing it alone as a young woman.

A week before she arrived, Raven called to talk through what she actually needed from the stay. From there the experience was shaped around her rather than a fixed itinerary. Once on the preserve she moved through several guided sessions, painting, sculpture, forest bathing, foraging and somatic breathwork, each led by a certified instructor, alongside real unstructured time to write, cook, walk and read.

  • Her first solo retreat, booked as a young woman travelling alone
  • A pre-arrival call with Raven to shape the stay around her goals
  • Painting, sculpture, forest bathing, foraging and somatic breathwork
  • Sessions of one to two hours, each led by a certified instructor
  • Unstructured time built in to write, cook, walk and read

“I recently did a solo retreat at Raven’s Wellness Retreat. It was the first solo stay I had ever done, and as a young female I wanted to find a place where I felt safe and could take time to completely disconnect and refresh. Raven’s Retreat provided everything I was looking for and more as both Raven and Dustin are nearby on the property and are available for any questions and concerns.

Prior to my stay I received several emails regarding their wellness offerings. I decided to make the most of it and take many sessions including painting, sculpture, forest bathing, foraging and somatic breathwork. These sessions are about 1-2 hours. There were many more offerings as well. All my sessions were incredible and fulfilling, all taught by professionals and instructors. My forest bathing guide was certified, which I didn’t even know is a career you can pursue! I learned so much from them and it added variety to my solo time.

The week before, Raven reached out to speak to me on how I can make the best out of my experience for my purpose. I really appreciated that as this experience was tailored for my needs and interest. The space is beautiful, clean, and designed with so much thought and heart. It captures the spirit of the land. I was able to sleep very well and woke up with birds and rain rather than alarms, and received the rest I needed. I finally had time to write, cook, walk, and read, things that would be considered luxuries in my daily life.

I chose to not leave the property and brought all my food and snacks, but there are restaurants nearby. I highly recommend Raven’s Retreat for a refresh and maybe to learn something new. I felt safe and still had space to be alone in my thoughts and nature. If you are looking for a place to recharge and relax, I highly recommend and hope to go back next year!”

“My husband and I recently stayed in the Sculptor’s Art Bungalow at Raven’s Retreat Hocking Hills as part of a customized couples retreat to reconnect. The experience exceeded both our expectations. The cabin is unique, charming and welcoming and features custom art installations designed and created by onsite sculptor and artist, Dustin. He and Raven facilitated the various experiences during our stay that consisted of sound bathing, a foraging hike through on the property that is also a nature preserve, and an art experience where we made our own piece of art. These were all experiences we have never tried and it was fun to do together. Raven & Dustin also offer wellness coaching. My husband was recently diagnosed with diabetes and Raven has been a wealth of information. If you’re looking for an adult’s only getaway where you can connect or reconnect with your spouse or simply need to unplug, I hope you consider Raven’s Retreat. The only downside of our stay was that it was too short.”

Visiting Facilitator

A visiting facilitator ran her own program here.

Madhu A. travelled from Sonoma County, California to lead a retreat with nine participants at Raven’s Retreat, using the property’s lodge, the forest platform and the fire pit to run a full multi-day program for the group. The property was the venue and the container; the program was entirely his own.

  • A visiting facilitator bringing a group of nine
  • The Sculptor’s Art Lodge as the base for the whole retreat
  • The elevated forest platform, two minutes into the woods, used for practice
  • The fire pit outside the lodge, already set with seating around it
  • A full kitchen and enough bedrooms for the group

“I traveled from Sonoma County, California to lead a retreat with 9 participants at Raven’s Retreat, and I was blown away by the beauty of the lodge and the surrounding nature. It was the perfect place to hold a wellness retreat. Simply being there is a healing experience, and it was an excellent setting to feel supported moving through deep processes as well as making connections with community. A two minute walk in the forest is a deck in a shaded area, which we used for one of our practices. And just outside the lodge is a wonderful fire pit already set up with seating all around. The lodge itself is a creation of art, which invites presence, mindfulness, and a sense of wonder. The bedrooms and sleeping arrangements were comfortable and plenty, and the kitchen was stacked with everything we needed. One week later I am still thinking of the majesty of this place and I am happy for anyone who gets the opportunity to visit and stay at this beautiful retreat center.”

“This was a perfect location for our CEO forum group to retreat for a long weekend. We enjoyed local hikes, immersed in nature, and plenty of separate bedrooms to give the privacy needed for professionals traveling together. We brought in a facilitator and we were able to use the platform in the woods for the entire day. Raven and Dustin are wonderful hosts and helped make our overall retreat a success with their suggestions and connections!”

FAQ

Yes. Every quote on this page is the verbatim text of a review the guest left on Google or Airbnb after their stay, reproduced without editing. Raven's Retreat holds 422 reviews at a 4.97 average across Airbnb, Google and VRBO, and the full body of them is on the reviews page.

Close to it, but not identically. Every stay here is assembled around what the guest says they need on a call before booking, so no two retreats run the same schedule. The experiences these guests describe, sound bathing, forest bathing, foraging, somatic breathwork, painting and sculpture, are all still offered and can be added to any stay.

Either. The Sculptor's Art Lodge and the Sculptor's Art Bungalow can be booked as a straight stay, and wellness and art experiences are added on top if you want them. Guests who want a structured retreat talk to Raven first so she can build it.

Yes. Madhu's retreat above is exactly that: a visiting facilitator brought nine participants and ran his own multi-day program, using the lodge, the forest platform and the fire pit. Raven and Dustin handle the property, the food and the logistics.

Yes. Raven's Retreat sits on a private 58-acre nature preserve and is adults only. Group retreats have the property to themselves, and solo and couples guests have their own cabin with Raven and Dustin nearby on the land.
