A Group Art Workshop Day Built Specifically for
15 to 20 People

Smaller groups fit our team & group day retreats. Overnight groups have other options.

This experience is built for the in-between – a single day, 15 to 20 people, two facilitators, and a flow that intentionally moves through wellness, food, and creativity in that order.

Co-Led with Terra Art Gallery for Real Group Attention

A group of 15 to 20 is too many for one facilitator to truly hold. We co-lead this day with Terra Art Gallery, so every guest gets real attention, real instruction, and time to actually create. The pace stays steady. The energy stays present. Two distinct creative voices guide the day instead of one stretched thin.

How This Differs from Our Other Group Offerings

This is a day retreat, not an overnight stay. It is co-led with an outside art partner, not facilitated entirely in-house. It is non-clinical, so it is separate from any therapy-based work. For multi-day overnight options, see our Group Wellness Retreats page. For smaller in-house day retreats of 14 or fewer, see our Team & Group Day Retreats page. For licensed art therapists bringing their own curriculum, see our Art Therapy Retreats page.

The Day Begins with a Nervous System Reset

Most groups arrive carrying the pace of everyday life. Rather than launch straight into creating, the first part of the day is intentionally built to help the group slow down, breathe, and physically settle before the workshops begin. The exact shape is customized for every group during your retreat consult call.

Wellness Experiences Tailored to Your Group

Depending on what fits your people, the opening of the day can include:

Guided breathwork
A grounding yoga session
A sound bath
A wild edibles tour through the preserve
A guided art interpretation tour of the property
A nature scavenger hunt

Every group is different. Some need stillness. Some need play. Many need both. We design the opening together on your consult call so the experience is optimized for the actual humans showing up.

A Shared, Thoughtfully Prepared Meal

A delicious, nourishing meal is included in the day.

Sharing food slows the pace, deepens conversation, and helps the group settle in before the creative portion begins.

It is part of the experience, not an afterthought, and most guests are surprised by how satisfying it actually is.

Food also does something wellness programming alone cannot - it creates an unstructured moment where people talk, laugh, and actually look at each other. That shift in energy carries directly into the creative work that follows. Groups that eat well together tend to make art together with more ease.

Then, Two Co-Led Art Projects in One Day

Once the group is calm, connected, and well-fed, the creative portion of the day begins. Every group completes two guided art experiences led by two distinct creative voices.

One Collaborative Project, One Individual Project

The collaborative project is a shared piece the group builds together – a tangible reminder of the day. The individual project is yours alone: a finished piece each guest takes home. Group creativity builds connection. Individual creativity builds reflection. Together, the day feels both shared and personal.

Guided by Raven's Retreat and Terra Art Gallery

One workshop is led by the Raven’s Retreat Hocking Hills creative team, drawing on Dustin Weatherby’s 25+ years as a master sculptor and our experience designing nature-based creative experiences. The other is led by Terra Art Gallery, bringing a distinct artistic voice and additional medium expertise. Each facilitator fully owns their session, so your group gets two perspectives in one day rather than one voice carrying everything.

A Setting That Becomes Part of the Experience

The workshop unfolds inside an immersive retreat center, not a generic event space. Custom sculpture, forest light, and intentional design surround the work. The setting itself does quiet work on the group, which is a real reason guests remember this day differently than a hotel ballroom or studio rental.

Frequently Asked Questions

A group art workshop day retreat at Raven’s Retreat Hocking Hills is a single-day creative experience for 15 to 20 people, co-led by two art facilitators – one from Raven’s Retreat and one from Terra Art Gallery. The day includes wellness experiences built around a nervous system reset, a thoughtfully prepared meal, and two guided art projects: one collaborative group piece and one individual project each guest takes home.

Terra Art Gallery is our creative partner for this specific workshop day format. One of the two guided art projects is led by Terra Art Gallery, bringing a distinct artistic voice and additional medium expertise alongside the Raven’s Retreat creative team. The two facilitators each fully own their session.

Most groups arrive carrying stress, travel, and the pace of everyday life. Opening with breathwork, yoga, a sound bath, a wild edibles walk, or another grounding experience helps the group physically settle before creating. Guests show up to the art workshops calmer, more present, and more open – and the creative experience deepens because of it.

Every group is different, so we design the opening together on your consult call. Options include guided breathwork, yoga, sound bath, wild edibles tour, guided art interpretation tour, or a nature scavenger hunt. Some groups need stillness, others need play, and many want a mix.

Raven’s Retreat offers yoga, sound baths, breathwork, guided wild edibles nature walks, art interpretation tours, and a nature scavenger hunt. During your consult call we’ll discuss which experience is the best fit for your group.

Travel and the anticipation of trying something new can overstimulate the nervous system. Opening the day with a grounding practice helps calibrate your group’s energy before the creative work begins – and the art experience deepens because of it.

Our standard Team & Group Day Retreats are built for groups of 14 or less and are facilitated entirely in-house. This co-led workshop retreat is built specifically for 15 to 20 people and features two facilitators in one day, including a session led by Terra Art Gallery.

Our Group Wellness Retreats are multi-day overnight experiences shaped around broader wellness, creative, and team-building goals. This group art workshop is a single-day format with an outside art partner and a fixed creative structure of two guided projects.

Our Art Therapy Retreats page is for licensed art therapists who bring their own clinical curriculum and use Raven’s Retreat as the venue. This group art workshop is non-clinical, co-led by our team and Terra Art Gallery, and built around guided creative experiences, wellness, and a shared meal.

A delicious, nourishing meal is included as part of the day. Dietary needs are worked through during planning, and most guests are surprised by how satisfying and energizing the food is.

No art experience is needed. Both projects are designed so every guest can fully participate regardless of background. The facilitators guide each step, and the emphasis is on the creative experience itself rather than on artistic skill.

All of our art workshops are rooted in nature. Options include sculpting, acrylic painting, and mini forest dioramas. Your consult call is the right place to discuss which mediums are the best fit for your group.

Each guest takes home their individual project. The collaborative group piece typically stays with the host organization or group as a shared keepsake of the day, though specifics can be discussed during planning.

The core offering is a workshop day, but we can layer in overnight lodging, additional wellness experiences, sauna time, or a guided nature walk to extend it into a fuller multi-day retreat.

Raven’s Retreat Hocking Hills is located near Laurelville, Ohio on a 58-acre private nature preserve, approximately one hour from Columbus, two hours from Cincinnati and Dayton, and within reach of Cleveland and Pittsburgh. This co-led group art workshop format is built for 15 to 20 people. Smaller groups fit better on our Team & Group Day Retreats page; larger groups can be discussed on a case-by-case basis during the consult.

Start with a free retreat consult call. We will walk through your group, goals, and preferred dates, then design the optimized flow for your day, including the wellness opening, meal, and two co-led art projects.
